Growing up, I loved looking through the boxes of old photographs my family kept. As a kid I appreciated seeing those because of the memories each photograph held. When I was 9 years old my Mom bought me my first digital camera and I was always trying to photograph my family with it. I remember constantly hearing their complaints of not wanting to be in front of the camera. Much of it had to do with their lack of confidence in getting their photographs taken. Over the last 17 years I’ve seen the valuable memories photographs have had in my life and how much I’ve appreciated the ones I’ve created over the years.
It wasn’t until 2020 that I began to receive encouragement for my photography. I met some incredible friends from playing beach volleyball and have them to thank for letting me use them as my creative outlet. When I began photographing I realized that I too lacked confidence in myself as a photographer. I knew I needed to change that and practiced constantly on my close friends. After a few months of practice I gained the confidence to photograph complete strangers and build a connection with them. At the end of every photographing session I heard positive feedback on how thankful these people were for how comfortable I made them feel in front of the camera. I take pride in being able to easily talk with the people I photograph and how I am able to help build their confidence.
I strive to always make people enjoy being in the photographs I take of them. Without the constant support and encouragement from my Hawaii ohana, I would not be the confident photographer that I am today. I have a series of portraits showing these individuals and making them feel confident in front of the camera as much as they have made me feel behind it.
I had the honor of joining the United States Marine Corps in 2014 and being stationed out on Oahu, HI from June 2015-November 2018. Then I attended college out there until May 2021.
Allie arrived from Kona, Big Island January of 2018 and changed my world. She's such an amazing dog and I am a huge dog lover. If you want photos with your furry family members I would be more than happy to set something up!
I met the food & beverage director of the Old Baldy Club while playing beach volleyball in Hawaii. I now work the Front Desk & Bartend here seasonally for the summer time. I'm typically gone from May - October of the year and live in Palm Desert, CA the rest of the time.
My boyfriend, Ran, works at Old Baldy Club seasonally which is where we met. He jokingly invited me on a trip to Yellowstone, but joke was on him because I took him seriously. I asked him out on a date and we discovered how we were meant for eachother. He is my supporter and my rock and I cannot thank him ever enough for how much he has brought to my life.
